We are living in Washington at present, so went to Obama’s inauguration, arriving well before the 11:30am start.

This is the first time that the crowd got excited …

… which was for a sighting on the Jumbotron of Beyoncé, who judging by crowd responses, was rivaled for second most popular person present only by Bill Clinton.

I carried a 300mm lens in the hope of getting photos of events on the stage, and this, I promise, is the resulting photograph of Obama giving his inauguration speech
